Approaching Thirty Years in Science: What Has Happened, and What Should Have Happened, in That Time Part II: Doing Something About My Frustrations Over Animal Research: Moving Away from the Bench and Out of the Laboratory
Dr. Jarrod Bailey, Director of Science and Technology at the Center for Contemporary Sciences, is sharing his journey through the years as a scientist in the second of his new three-part blog series. In Part II, Dr. Bailey discusses his need to help change how biomedical science is conducted, for the better.
Dr. Bailey received his Ph.D. in Genetics from Newcastle University, England, then spent seven years investigating the possible genetic causes of premature birth in humans, using human tissues.
For the past 16 years, Dr. Bailey has worked for a number of organizations in the U.S. and the U.K., evaluating the human relevance of animal experiments in many areas of biomedical research and drug/product testing, and promoting the use of human-specific research methods in their place.
